In the hills of Monterey CA, once a year, thousands of cyclists gather to race, chill and worship all things bike. Our friends over at VW asked us to come document their involvement at the Sea Otter Classic. Volkswagen as a company works hard to cater their products to the cycling community. A lot of their cars lend themselves well to rough terrain and long distances, to get bikers to the trail head or the race across the country. It was so impressive to see how much they actually cared about the people that drove their cars. It was a unique opportunity to see such a large corporation act in such an authentic way.

The Sea Otter Classic is an event that anyone that who has a love for bikes, should have the opportunity to attend at some point in their life. It is over 4 square miles of cycle competition, vendor show floor, camp grounds and natural beauty. We are so happy that we got a chance to be a part of all the happenings and to tell its story from the view point of Volkswagen.

Enjoy!

Art and creativity comes in so many different forms… To us an artist is someone that is innovative and pushes themselves to improve and revolutionize their talents. They are someone that can captivate an audience because of the passion and effort they put into their art. Artists are able to put their back story into an outward expression, and show people who they are as a person and how that story has formed their art. Corey is no exception. After spending a day with him at the track and in interview, it became very apparent to us that his ability to ride a motorcycle is a form art, and self expression for him.

We love telling real stories of real artists.

A little while back we caught wind of a new company that was providing licenses to relevant music, for an industry that was in desperate need. As we explored more, we realized that we absolutely had to partner up with The Music Bed. Setting aside the legal scare of unlicensed music and all the hype that follows it, we would still turn to The Music Bed to discover the music that fit our films best. The fellers behind the company are as genuine and authentic as the music they choose to put on the website. They, themselves, have been in the shoes of the filmmaker and that is what has allowed them to fill a void that existed. When we first met with The Music Bed gents about a film that could display what they are doing for two different industries, we wanted to make sure that we got the point across, that not only is TMB filling a void in the cinematography world, but also in the music industry. They have literally allowed artists in both industries to get paid and receive appreciation for their art legally. We hope the message of this film is clear… its much, much more than just buying rights to songs, its allowing the world to enjoy art!

Enjoy!

Everybody’s favorite scene from the Bourne series is when Jason goes into the safety security boxes and finds all the passports, with HIS picture in each of them. What? Thats not everybody’s favorite part, well it is ours. So you could imagine our excitement when we found out that we were shooting a film that could rival that very scene. (well kind of…) Even though the plot is not as intense, and the subject is not a confused hit man, we still think the film is pretty cool. The owners of Freedom Vault really understand the value of story telling, to help potential clients understand what they offer. They put complete trust in our team to tell their story in a creative and compelling way.

There was a lot of passion behind this particular project for us. When we were approached by Vanguard University to create a film about the memorial that they are building, we were honored! The purpose of this memorial is to pay tribute to the men and women that serve our country in various branches of the military. Vanguard is not just a education institution, they are also a very unique community of people that care for others and deeply respect the service of those working to make our country and world a better place. We wanted to tell a story that matched their respect, passion and care. It was really emotional for our team to capture these soldiers be reunited with their families and be able to hug and kiss their loved ones. What a great cause and project to be a part of!

Let’s be honest, going to the dentist isn’t usually fun or interesting. Which is why we were a little hesitant when Brian contacted us to make a promo film for his dentistry practice until he said the magic words: “I don’t want it to be like any other dentist promo.” He wanted it to be rad, artistic and really show who he is as a person. Say what?! We’re in! Brian turned us loose and trusted us 100% to tell his story authentically. There really is nothing quite like working with clients who understand and have complete confidence in your abilities.

This was an eight hour shoot, including interviews and b-roll. Dr. Edwards’ patients were great to work with, and were well prepared. They had such strong feelings and passion for what a great dentist and person he is.

In conception, we really wanted the film to bring out how personable and trustworthy Brian really is. We also wanted to make sure the tone of the film reflected the experience viewers and potential clients would have when they stepped foot into his office: easy and low stress. We used strait and symmetrical composition to give the feeling of precision and control (things that most of us look for when choosing a dentist). Dr. Edwards is great with all types of clients, so it was really important to relay that in the film. We chose to do a simple and subtle light design to show the office’s cleanliness and approachability.

We believe our goal to make this promo like no other dentist promo we’ve seen was a success!

Enjoy!

If you are a business owner or have ever worked in marketing… you know how daunting of a task it can be to purposefully brand you company, build a rad website and create an effective marketing plan. It is essential to have a good team behind you to make the process bearable.

A few months back we started looking around for someone who could build us a new blog and freshen up our brand. What we found was a team of specialized professionals who, not only build incredible websites and give brands facelifts, but also coach clients through understand who they are and where they stand as a company and as individuals. In the beginning of this process we really had no idea how much more there was to consider when it came to branding other than graphics, logos and websites. When we finished the process ,we realized your branding should be a living, breathing representation of your core values and what makes you tick.

When Gary of Big Deal Branding asked us to create a promotional film for their business that would be featured on their homepage, we were so excited. In the storyboarding stages of this project the BDB team said they wanted to make sure the audience understood they are four individuals with specialized skills that are coming together to create a holistic branding experience. So we talked with each of them about who they are individually and their personal interests. Then we created a storyboard that would incorporate all of them and tie them together with a consistent flow. This is a direct reflection of how they run their business. We used the rolling and sliding transitions to represent how the four individual roles work and mesh together. We also wanted to use a fast-paced sound track and quickly cut clips to show how the branding process moves along fast and smooth.

This project was shot over a two day period in about 6 different locations, and four interviews.

The overall objective of the film was to help people get excited about discovering who they are and where they stand as a company. It was a blast creating this film!

You know those companies that you love dealing with, not only because they provide an amazing product and have a unique approach to their industry, but they are just amazing people to work with? PropsFX is no exception! They are creative, innovative and all around fun-tastic!

The idea behind the concept of this film was to show how much preparation and thought Props FX puts into the planning of the details of their events. What better way to capture that preperation in action, then when they are putting on one of their biggest events of the year. This project was shot in about 8 hours, including interviews. We had 4 cinematographers, in 2 different locations.

The purpose of this film was to get organizations that are looking for an event coordinator, excited and help them understand that there is a “all in one” package available.
